CRPF spokesperson Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Moses Dhinakaran told PTI that it would be the first time that their women bikers are going to be a member of the Republic Day parade. “This squad, established in 2014, is a part of our dedication to involving women in all fields of duties performed by us,” he added.

In 1986, the CRPF had trained the first armed women's force in the Asian region. And at present, it has six such assemblages with over 1,000 personnel in each.

Leader of contingent

Inspector Seema Nag will lead the contingent. She is posted with the Rapid Action Force (RAF). The RAF is the extraordinary anti-riots conflict unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). It is the world's most significant paramilitary organisation with about 3.25 lakh workers in its ranks.

CRPF trainers chose the members of the team explicitly. They are in the age groups of 25 to 30. “Formed from several combat rank of forces,” another executive stated.
