The video purportedly showed the three women constables dancing to a Bhojpuri song. The fourth constable recorded the short video.  According to the officials, the suspended constables Kavita Patel, Kamini Kushwaha, Kashish Sahni, and Sandhya Singh were not in uniform in the viral video.

The constables made a reel on the Bhojpuri song Patli Kamariya Tori.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muniraj G ordered the suspension of the constables based on an inquiry report filed by Additional SP (Security) Pankaj Pandey.

Muniraj G said, “A video has been brought to our notice in which the guards exhibit indiscipline… They did not have the seriousness required while on duty.”

Reportedly, the woman constables were on duty at the VIP entrance.

A senior police officer who wished to remain anonymous spoke to The Week about the incident. The officer said that it appeared the video was taken in an enclosed place when they were on a break and added that suspension would be too strong a punishment.

Meanwhile, another officer said that the woman constables had offended the “sacred place”. The officer said, “The lyrics of the song in question are bawdy and have no place at this most sacred place.”

Earlier this month, two women security personnel of the Mahakal temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh were suspended after a video of them dancing went viral.

Taking photographs inside the Mahakal temple in banned and following the incident, the security personnel at the temple have been asked not to carry mobile phones with them.

The viral video showed the two women dancing to the songs Pyar Pyar Karte Karte and Jeene Ke Bahane Lakhon.

The administration banned photography inside the temple in November after the number of devotees increased. Ujjain district collector Ashish Singh said, "Devotees visiting the sanctum sanctorum take selfies and click photos, due to which common devotees have to face many difficulties."
