Women employees of a pub in Gurugram beat up a molester with their footwear. A video of them taking on the alleged molester has gone viral on social media.
The incident occurred on MG Road, after a man in a drunken state approached one of the club’s female employees and grabbed her from behind. The employee’s colleagues quickly rushed in and started beating up the man with their footwear.
The employees said that there were no policemen around when the incident took place.
“We have deployed male and female constables in civil dress to take action against miscreants. We have issued strict directions to police personnel to file an FIR forthwith if the victim approaches police,” Manish Sehgal, ACP and PRO of Gurgaon Police told PTI.
According to police records, 52 rape cases have been registered in Gurugram since the beginning of the year, and more than 100 cases of molestation have been registered. The city has one of the highest levels of crimes against women in India.
Last week, news of the rape of a 23-year-old woman and the murder of her 8-month-old baby in Gurugram shocked the country. She had to carry her dead child in the Metro in order to get to the AIIMS hospital. She also went to a police station to file an FIR but the woman police there paid no heed to her complaint and did not register it. It has been reported that the police only recorded the charges of gangrape after five days of the crime.
Last month, a 22-year-old woman was gangraped in a moving car around 2 am. They threw her out after committing the crime. More and more stories of brutality against women come out every day.
