A video of two women assaulted in Shalimar Bagh in Delhi by a group of armed goons has gone viral on social media, leading netizens to demand proper investigation in the case. As per reports, the clip taken from CCTV footage is dated November 19. An FIR has reportedly been filed against unknown persons.
The video shows one of the two women getting out of a car when a mob of four people appear, surround her and begin beating her brutally. The second woman, reportedly her mother, parks the vehicle and rushes out but is also beaten with sticks before she falls to the ground.
As per Indian Express, the group accused of assaulting the duo included both men and women. Two women have been arrested in the case.
Reports suggest the women complainants in the assault case have accused MLA Bandana Kumari of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of being involved in the matter. Kumari has denied the allegations.

Based on the woman's complaint, Delhi Police has registered an FIR against unknown persons, it said.

Who is Bandana Kumari?
Kumari has held position as the MLA of the Shalimar Bagh constituency from AAP since 2013. She was also formerly the president of the party's women's wing. She has raised issues of women's safety and empowerment through her political tenure by seeking to introduce measures, such as public vehicle reservations for women and senior citizens.

The older of the two women has claimed in the FIR that the group molested and robbed the duo, snatching their phone and jewellery. After neighbours heard the ruckus on the street and raised the alarm by shouting, the mob escaped.
MLA Kumari stays in Shalimar Bagh in the same neighbourhood as the two women who were assaulted, as per reports. Times of India, citing the FIR, reports the woman alleged she heard the goons saying they would not be paid money if the mother-daughter duo died.
