According to Nivedita Pal, additional superintendent of police for Bastar, the accused's involvement in the crime was discovered during the inquiry, leading to her detention on Sunday.

Woman Throws Acid At Ex-Boyfriend During Wedding

On April 19, the event took place when the groom, 25-year-old Damrudhar Baghel was getting married to a woman in Chhote Amabal, in the Bhanpuri police station's jurisdiction. The acid attack left the bride, the groom, and 10 guests with minor burns.

The investigation was started by police after they filed a case under Section 326 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (voluntarily causing grievous harm by use of acid, etc.).

The police claimed they investigated the bride and groom's backgrounds, activated informers, and saw footage from certain CCTV cameras placed in the area. Pal said that because the incident occurred in the late evening and there was a power outage at that time, no one could see the accused. An ex-girlfriend of the groom who had been suspected was arrested after the investigation showed her involvement.

According to Pal, the accused claimed Damrudhar Baghel betrayed her by marrying another woman when they were in a relationship for several years.

According to the police, the woman plotted the attack and stole acid from a chilli farm where she works after learning of Damrudhar's marriage. The acid the accused threw at the groom is meant to be used to clean the drip system at the farm. The investigation revealed that the accused woman utilised a male identity to hide her own identity while committing the crime.

Acid attacks have become a type of vengeance that has become increasingly common across the nation in recent years. When acid is thrown on a person's face, it shows that the offender is incredibly furious and believes that the only way to get even is to permanently damage the victim without considering the long-term repercussions. Irrespective of the gender of the accused, nobody has the right to ruin someone else's life due to their inability to deal with rejection.
