Kathleen Wilson, from Minneapolis, filed a lawsuit against Dr. Kevin Molldrem of Molldrem Family Dentistry for receiving the wrong treatment. She claimed that the dentist had given her an overdose of anaesthesia and faked his medical records. Wilson has claimed at least $50,000 in return for the damage caused to her.

Expert Opinion Reveals Violations of Duty of Care

The legal team hired Dr. Avrum Goldstein of Florida to look into the documents submitted in the case. Dr. Goldstein said that Dr. Moldrem was right in his diagnosis that virtually all the teeth of Wilson had decayed. But he also pointed out the violations he committed in her care.

He said that Wilson required a "slow, thoughtful, careful, and measured response to her disease." He further added in the report, "Trying to fill every hole in every tooth in her mouth in one visit is not only the antithesis of what was indicated; it is not humanely possible to achieve in an effective or constructive manner." He also said that it is inconceivable to work on 28 teeth in five and a half hours.

Anesthesia Overdose and Falsification of Records

Dr. Goldstein also stated that Dr. Loldrem had not addressed the disease that Wilson was facing, nor had he told her about the possibility of losing her teeth. He accused Dr. Moldrem of giving Wilson an extra dose of anaesthesia. The dentist had reportedly given 960 milligrams of the drug, which is more than half of the directed amount (490 milligrams).
