Woman Slaps Ground Staff

The couple arrived 10 minutes late from the boarding time of their flight QP 1525, flying from Lucknow to Mumbai. On denial of boarding, the couple started aggressively arguing with the female employee and turned into a physical assault

The assaulted survivor, 21-year-old Nimisha Sharma, a customer service associate at Akasa flight, wrote a written complaint against the couple's alleged misbehaviour and physical assault committed by the woman. The local police booked the couple with charges of non-cognizable offences under the IPC section 504(Insulting and provoking in intent to breach of peace), Section 506 (Criminal intimidation), and Section 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt).

Later, Sarojini Nagar Police Station SHO Shailender Giri confirmed that the couple was released from the police station on personal bonds.

Further Sharma said that she explained to the couple- The situation would have been different with web check-in, but the couple failed to do so. On denial of boarding, the couple got aggressive, the woman insisted that her children had exams tomorrow. A woman came behind the desk, pushed Sharma into the chair, and slapped her, as per the 21-year-old flight attendant.

The spokesperson of Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport confirmed the incident as the couple were removed from the airport by CSIF and later handed to police.

It is not the first time air passengers misbehaved with aviation staff. Earlier the last year, a 30-year-old man urinating on a 70-year-old woman co-passenger on an Air India flight from New York to New Delhi made the big headlines.

DGCA (The Directorate General of Civil Aviation) has taken serious cognizance of these incidents and warned that passengers' misdemeanour will be penalised, put on a lifetime ban from the airlines, or even imprisonment.
