The accused engaged in a fight with her husband earlier in the day over what to watch on Television. The daughter took the side of the father during the fight which angered the mother to an extent that she murdered her at an under-construction building at BDA Layout, near Nagarbhavi.

The accused has been identified as Sudha and is a resident of Mallathahalli. She used to work as a housekeeper at a tiles shop. She along with her husband, Eeranna, were daily wage earners. She has been arrested by the police for her alleged murder of her child.

Neighbors and passersby noticed the girl's body on Wednesday morning and reported the incident to the local police, immediately. Annapoorneshwari Nagar police rushed to the location and identified the victim as Vinutha, the only daughter of Eeranna and Sudha.

On Tuesday, Sudha filed a missing complaint about her daughter whom she allegedly murdered, to the Jnanabharathi police. According to the complaint, she took her daughter to a fast food shop where she went missing while the mother was busy paying the bills.

Police found the mother's behaviour suspicious when she along with her husband were called to identify the body. They further questioned her about the visit to the fast-food shop. She cracked soon and confessed to her murder of her own child.

She told the police that her child liked her father more than her and always supported him and this angered her.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev M Patil said, "On Tuesday, Eeranna came home for lunch around 2 pm. His daughter was watching TV at the time. Eeranna took the remote and changed the channel to watch news. His wife objected to him watching news channel all the time."

He added, "She scolded him and told him that he needn't come home if he wanted to watch news. That is when Vinutha supported Eeranna and asked her mother to keep quiet and allow her father to watch TV; the girl said her mother had gone mad. Sudha lost her cool and murdered Vinutha the same night."
