According to GRP officials, the accused, Kripa Patel, is a labourer from Orissa and lives on the pavement at Masjid Bunder. He was booked under Indian Penal Code sections 354 and 509 for molestation.

On the day of the incident, the complainant visited her brother in Cuffe Parade for Bhaubeej. Around 10am, she took a Harbour train from CSMT to reach her workplace in Seawoods. GRP officials said she was the only passenger in the second-class ladies compartment.

"Patel, who was in the adjacent coach reserved for the disabled, flashed her as the train started to pull out of the station," said a police official.

"She started filming him, assuming it would deter him, but it didn't work. She then warned him that she would hand over the clip to police. He passed a comment even as she continued to shoot till Reay Road station."

The woman got off at Reay Road and returned to CSMT where she registered a complaint at the GRP outpost.

"We went through the CCTV footage of CSMT and Masjid station and formed two teams to investigate the incident. The CCTV footage and the video clip shot by the complainant were shown to stall owners at CSMT and Patel was picked up from near Bhatia Baug late on Sunday. After the complainant confirmed his identity, Patel was arrested early on Monday," assistant commissioner Machhindra Chavan told TOI.
