Woman Farmer Writes To President: A woman farmer from Madhya Pradesh wrote a letter to the President of India. In it, she sought his help to secure a loan to purchase a helicopter and a flying license to reach her farm plot, the routes to which have reportedly been blocked by some powerful men of the village.

A woman from Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh, Basanti Bai Lohar, has written an unusual letter to the President of India Ram Nath Kovind. In the letter, she asked for a loan to purchase a chopper and license to fly it to reach her farm plot as the passage to it has been reportedly blocked by a few powerful men of the village.

Basanti Bai Lohar, a farmer from Agar village in Shamgarh tehsil, claimed in the letter that a man, identified as Parmanand Patidar, another farmer, and his two sons, blocked all the routes to her two bigha-sized plot. Hence, she was unable to reach her land and bring any equipment or cattle to the farm.

The woman wrote in the letter in Hindi, "I have a small piece of land of around two bigha in the village and the produce helps me earn a living for the family. But recently, village muscleman Parmanand Patidar and his son Lavkush, have blocked the access route leading to the farm."

Basanti told News18 that she visited government offices, from 'Chaupal to Bhopal' (from village panchayat to higher authorities in Bhopal) on several occasions, but received no help. She also said that she was facing problems in feeding her family. "I have written to the President of India to make available a helicopter so that I could reach my farm land and cultivate it," she added. In fact, she reportedly wrote to Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and PM Narendra Modi, but the matter is yet to be resolved.

As the plight of the woman has gone viral now, the Mandsaur district administration sent a revenue department team to look into Basanti's issues.

However, the district collector Manoj Pushp told that the team that went to conduct a spot inquiry, under a woman Naib Tehsildar on Thursday, reportedly did not find any evidence to substantiate the claims raised by the woman.

He said, "Nothing was found to confirm that there is no passage to the woman's plot. The tehsildar, who conducted the inquiry, has reported that there is a clear passage to reach Basanti's plot. The letter is probably written to highlight some local issue."

The district collector added they are still looking into the matter and will resolve it soon.
