Cardi B, who was nominated for Best Rap Performance for her track Up, took to Twitter on Sunday night (April 3) to respond to fans who were disappointed that she didn't attend the awards ceremony. This led to a tense exchange between the celebrity and her followers, as well as Cardi B's deactivation of her Twitter account.

Cardi B's fans had allegedly accused her of teasing them about her participation at the annual awards presentation. After she tweeted one tweet justifying her decision not to attend the awards night, the back-and-forth with her followers looked to begin. However, things escalated when one fan wrote, “I bet yo son wouldnt like for you to be on your ass while teasing us fans and not ever dropping music,” and she responded, “I hope your moms die.”

She wrote, "I’m deleting my twitter but On God I hate this fuckin dumbass fan base." She further tweeted, "You got slow dumbasses dragging my kids all cause y’all thought I was going to the Grammys and I didn’t the fuck? When the fuck I hinted I was going? Just stupid I can’t I needs to protect myself."

Why Cardi B deleted Twitter:

Cardi B tweeted shortly before deactivating her account, "I'm deleting my Twitter but on God I hate this fuckin' dumbass fan base." She specifically called out tweets that were “dragging kids” before deleting her account.

Cardi's supporters expressed their displeasure with people abusing her on social media because she didn't attend the Grammy Awards after she left Twitter. It's unknown whether or not the decision is only temporary. However, this isn't the first time Cardi has deactivated her Twitter account. Earlier, she deactivated her Twitter account in March 2021 and October 2020.

Cardi B decided to skip the Grammy despite being nominated for Best Rap Performance (which she lost to Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar's "Family Ties"). She wasn't the only one, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and Kanye West were among the other nominees who were notably missing on Sunday night. Regardless, Cardi's absence was not well received by some.

For those who are unaware, the Grammy Awards 2022 ceremony began on Sunday in Las Vegas. The Grammy Awards, formerly known as the Gramophone Award or just Grammy, is an award given by the Recording Academy to commemorate "Outstanding Achievement in the Music Industry."
