Zara Rahim was raised in a Bengali immigrant household in the United States, where conversations often centered around community, identity and finding a place in a country that didn’t always make space for people like her.

These early experience made her realise how important it is for immigrants and women of colour to be heard in public life, a belief that guided her career choices early on.

Early Start in Politics

Zara found her interest in public service early in life. She studied International Studies because she knew she wanted to make an impact.

She began her career during Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, starting as an intern. Her role grew shortly, and she soon joined the President’s digital team.
