Who Is Tina Rahimi?

Rahimi is an Iranian woman from Australia who started boxing in 2017 as a hobby when she was a make-up artist. However, she never realised that her hobby became a passion and by 2018, the featherweight boxer was participating in her first ever boxing match in a hijab. Since then, she only moved forward with a commendable winning streak and her performance at national level featherweight boxing helped her qualify for Commonwealth Games 2022 at Birmingham.

She qualified for CWG 2022 and became the first-ever Muslim Australian women boxer at the tournament. Not only this, she was the first-ever female boxer to wear hijab at CWG which was an achievement that inspired many Muslim female boxers out there who doubted they could ever make it. She won the bronze medal in the 57 kg category at CWG 2022.

At the IBA Women's World Boxing Championship 2023, Rahimi got disqualified after facing defeat at the hands of Manisha Moun. However, the boxer continues to inspire young female boxers to pursue their dreams while holding on to their beliefs.
