Who Is Surekha Jog? Marathi Actor's Mother Booked For Fraud In Pune

Five months after a Right to Information (RTI) query revealed that in nearly 11 schools run by Jog Education Trust, they had forged self-accreditation certificates to claim reimbursement of fees from the Pune Zilla Parishad's education department. The Economic Offences wing has pf Pune police booked four people including the trust's director and three government officials.  The RTI was filed by two activists Rajesh Belhekar and Naresh Chavhan on November 11, 2021.

The Bund Garden Police have booked Marathi actor Pushkar Jog's mother Surekha Jog, senior assistant of the trust Gautam Shendge, former education officer Kisan Pawar and MGNREGA senior assistant Hemant Sawalkar on charges of forging signatures and preparing bogus documents in the name of the education department. The complaint was filed by Block Development Officer reports stated.

According to reports. the incident took place between January 1, 2019, and May 24, 2022. The reports quote FIR stating that both Pawar and Sawalkar took ₹2.75 lakh from Jog Education Trust to prepare bogus self- accreditation certificates. The accused also made bogus entries reportedly without having obtained prior permission from their superior officials.

The accused were booked under Indian Penal Code section 420 (cheating), 464 (making a false document), 465 (punishment for forgery), 466 (forgery of record of court or of public register), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of the offence, or giving false information to screen offender), 120 (B) (punishment of criminal conspiracy), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and others.

Who Is Surekha Jog?

Surekha Suhas Jog is the mother of actor Pushkar Jog who predominantly works in the Marathi Film Industry. She also produced a film in 2008 which was directed by her son and he also starred in the film. The film that she produced was Satya More Than A Human.

Jog is registered as a Director with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and is currently holding the position of director and chairperson of the Suhas Jog Institute and Developers Private Limited. She is also chief at Jog Education Trust which runs a chain of educational institutions based in Pune.

Surekha Jog is embroiled in a case of forgery because she holds the position of chief at Jog Education Trust.
