Ritu Khanduri Bhushan will be contesting Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly elections 2022 from the Kotdwar constituency. The BJP candidate is grabbing eyeballs as she is also the daughter of former Uttarakhand CM and BJP member B.C. Khanduri.

BJP released the nine-member list for its candidates contesting in Uttarakhand Assembly elections on Wednesday, January 26. The list included the name of Uttarakhand's ex-CM and senior BJP member, B.C. Khanduri's daughter, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan. Ritu will be contesting elections from the Kotdwar constituency to everyone's astonishment.

Ritu Khanduri Bhushan's Political Life

Ritu Khanduri Bhushan is the daughter of BJP member, B.C. Khanduri. Her father served as Uttarakhand's CM from 2007 to 2009 and once again from 2011-2012. Ritu was born on January 29, 1965. She completed her Honors in Bachelor Of Arts from Raghunath Girls College, Meerut University in 1986. She is married to Rajesh Bhushan who himself is a government worker.

Ritu Khanduri Bhushan joined in the footsteps of her father, B.C. Khanduri and entered the politics of Uttarakhand as a BJP member. With her social work and active participation, Ritu gained public support. She contested Uttarakhand Assembly elections in 2017 from the Yamkehwar (Pauri Garhwal) constituency and defeated fellow independent candidate Renu Bisht with 8,982 votes. Ritu has a strong base in Yamkeshwar and has also worked for the betterment of her constituency while her MLA-ship.

Ritu Khanduri Bhushan will be contesting this year's elections from the Kotdwar constituency. People were expecting her to get a ticket from Yamkeshwar but the tables turned when Renu Bisht joined BJP. The party decided to give Yamkeshwar ticket to Renu while moving star face Ritu to the Kotdwar constituency.

On the decision of BJP's change of plans regarding her constituency, Ritu showed faith in her party and the seniors and said in an interview, “I belong to a family in which we do not ask many questions. There must have been some good enough reason for not giving me the ticket,”. Ritu will be contesting Kotdwar elections against Congress member Surendra Singh Negi.
