Who is Parveena from Lagaan: Most famous for her supporting role as Kesariya in the 2001 film Lagaan, actor Parveena is seeking employment and has publicly appealed to her co-star Aamir Khan for his help in the same. In an interview with a leading daily, Parveena recently opened up about health and financial issues, saying she is keen on getting back into films again.

She suffered a stroke last year and has had arthritis for a few years now, as told to ETimesKhan doesn’t know about her health condition, she says, but is hopeful he will step up to help once he comes to know. “I need to work and plead to him to give me work… All I want to tell him is, mujhe apne office mein kaam de do (give me work in your office).”

She is one of many female actors who have come forward in recent months, raising the issue of unemployment and lack of earning due to a variety of personal crises. Veteran television actor Shagufta Ali earlier this year spoke about not getting projects and how she exhausted her savings with treatments for cancer and other illnesses.

Parveena has credits to her name in advertisements as well as television shows. Other films she has acted in besides Lagaan are Lal Salaam, Escape from TalibanPinjar and Kohraam. As per her interview, she now seeks work as a casting director since she says her health will now allow her to act.

She reportedly received assistance from the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), the autonomous association and television fraternity that aids its artists who are facing issues, ranging from unemployment to old age. Actors Sonu Sood and Akshay Kumar have lent her help too, Parveena said.

“I want work as a casting director and would request production houses to give me work,” she appeals.
