Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson has ordered an inquiry into claims by Conservative Member of Parliament(MP) Nusrat Ghani who has claimed her "Muslimness" got her sacked from the position of Transport Minister in 2020.
The Conservative party Chief Whip, Mark Spencer, claims that her allegations are completely false.
Who Is Nusrat Ghani?
Nusrat Munir Ul-Ghani, also known as Nusrat Ghani has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wealden in East Sussex in the United Kingdom. She has been serving the position since 2015 and is a member of the British Conservative Party.
She was born in 1972 in the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir(PoK) area but was raised in England in a working-class family. She did her Bachelor's in Arts specialising in government and politics from Birmingham City University. She majored in International Relations from Leeds University which is a public research university in England.
Nusrat Ghani became the first woman MP to hold the seat from Wealden after MP Charles Hendry's retirement was announced from the 2015 general elections. Ghani was appointed as a member of the Home Affairs Select Committee( Departmental Committee of the House of Commons) and served the position till 2017.

In the 2017 general elections, she won 61.2 per cent of the votes, increasing her majority from the same seat. As the Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Home Office, she was tasked with works like providing reports on home affairs, security, hate crime, policing, and immigration. She is also serving as the Member of the UK delegation to NATO(North Atlantic Treaty Organization)Parliamentary Assembly.
As the Member and Rapporteur of the Science and Technology Committee, she is working on the area of NATO's vulnerabilities like cybersecurity and maritime technology.
Ghani has worked previously with Barnardo's which is the country's oldest children's charity. Here she undertook an independent inquiry into harmful child sexual behaviour.
In an interview with Sunday Times, she informed that she was sacked as a Transport Minister in 2020 due to her "Muslimness", as informed to her by the Whip. She also claimed that the Muslim woman minister status was making colleagues feel uncomfortable.
Ghani also took to her social media and informed that "All I ever wanted was for his(Boris Johnson) government to take this seriously, investigate properly and ensure no other colleague has to endure this"
