Zara Mohammed: Zara Mohammed has now come to spotlight after she became the first female leader who was elected as the secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB).

"I am really grateful for the opportunity and the trust that the delegates and the MCB have put in me to carry this role forward," she said. Zara hopes that she becomes an inspiration to women and young people who wish to be leaders in the future. With this victory, Zara Mohammed has made Britain's Muslim community proud.

  1. Zara Mohammed is a 29-year-old charities consultant who is also a law graduate from the city of Glasgow, Great Britain. 
  2. She earned her Bachelor's degree in law and politics from the University of Strathclyde in 2013. She also pursued a Master's programme in Human Right Law from 2013-2014 from the same university.
  3. Zara served as the President of the Mooting Society of Strathclyde University. She was responsible for making students a part of society and liaising with staff and legal professionals. 
  4. It was in the University of Strathclyde that she ran for the post of president of the university's Students Union in 2014. However, she became the deputy president of the university's Muslim Student Association. 
  5. Zara Mohammed had also worked as a Muslim Women Leadership Workshop Trainer at the Aberdeen University's Students Union. She was responsible for conducting workshops, group presentations, and lectures that motivated participants to achieve and understand their leadership style. It also helped them look into their strengths and weaknesses. 
  6. Zara was also the president of the Federation of Student Islamic Societies (FOSIS) in 2016. She had been a part of this body for about 3 years and was involved in a variety of operations. Her responsibilities ranged from supporting the management of the organisation, redeveloping training for 120 Islamic societies, representing the organisation at various events, etc. 
  7. The House of Commons had invited her to speak about the experiences of Muslim students at the Bridge Institute Report Launch in 2018. 
  8. Zara owns a blog named 'Questions of Leadership'. The blog includes a lot of content on personal growth. 
  9. The young lady won 107 votes and thus, became the general secretary of the MCB. The election was held in a virtual annual meeting. Her opponent was Ajmal Masroor, an imam and teacher.
  10. Harun Khan was her predecessor in the MCB. “I wish the very best of success to Zara Mohammed – may she continue to lead this organisation to greater heights for the betterment of our communities across the country," he said.
