Who is Gehana Vasisth? Television actor Gehana Vasisth was arrested on Sunday for her alleged involvement in a porn racket busted in Mumbai's Madh Island.  

As per reports, she is accused of allegedly shooting and uploading pornographic content on her website. Vasisth's team has refuted all claims of her involvement in the racket, saying she "only shot erotica" and "There is no pornography in her work."

On June 18, Vasisth was granted bail by Dindoshi sessions court in Mumbai. This comes five months after her arrest in the case related to pornographic content. Spokespersons for the actor were quoted saying in reports that her bail order was delayed due to COVID-19 lockdowns in the state and court vacations. While in custody, she reportedly got infected with the coronavirus and had to be kept in isolation at a quarantine facility. Her publicist, at the time of her arrest, had raised the issue of her pre-existing health conditions, saying she was a heart patient and had suffered four cardiac arrests in the duration of one year.

1. Born Vandana Tiwari, the actor is most popularly known by her stage name Gehana Vasisth. She gained prominence in the entertainment industry as a noted advertisement actor and model, with over 70 ads to her credit. 

2. On television, Vasisth has served as an anchor for the Cricket World Cup in 2015 and video jockey with MTV. She also played a key role in the daily soap Behenein.  

3. Vasisth has worked across languages in films and music videos. Her most prominent works include Hindi films Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai and Luckhnowi Ishq. In Telugu, she has led films like Preminchu Pilladu and Namasthe.

4. Most recently, Vasisth was seen in web series, including ALT Balaji's  Gandi Baat and Zee5's Nerd.

5. On Sunday, the Mumbai Police arrested Vasisth along with five others accused of alleged involvement in a porn racket on Madh Island where girls were being forced to shoot pornographic content. 

6. On Vasisth, the police said, "She would get struggling actors to work in films and lure them to work for her. An actor working for her was paid Rs 15,000-20,000 per movie." 

7. A police officer told TOI that Gehana Vasisth had shot close to 87 obscene videos that were then put on her website which required a subscription of Rs 2000 to watch. 

8. Her publicist, however, denied her involvement, saying, "The State should not interfere in the creative and artistic expression of an actor or director. She is not at all involved in the alleged porn racket run by others."

9. "There is a legal difference between erotica or sensual or bold films and hardcore porn," the statement further said. 

10. The publicist's statement also insists insisted Vasisth had suffered four cardiac arrests in the last one year and is also diabetic. Her team has requested the police to treat the actor with consideration, owing to her ill health.
