Who is Farah Khan? Reportedly a close friend of Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan's wife, Bushra Bibi. Amidst political controversy, Farah Khan has been accused of receiving six billion worth of Pakistani rupees.
Opposition parties have accused Farah Khan, of receiving bribes, for transferring and posting officers according to Pakistan PM's choice. A picture of her, carrying a bag worth $90,000, has further fueled the accusations.
Pakistan is currently under a political controversy with opposition parties filing a no-trust motion against PM Imran Khan. Amidst all this, Farah Khan has managed to grab attention, after corruption allegations by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleem Khan.
Who is Farah Khan?
- Farah Khan is reportedly a close friend of Bushra Bibi, wife of PM Imran Khan.
- Farah Khan, real name Farah Shahzadi, reportedly fled to Dubai, on an international airline, EK623, using a Pakistani passport to travel.
- She has been called "Bushra's frontwoman" in the wake of the political crisis, by the opposition parties.
- Farah Khan along with her husband has allegedly fled the country after the Pakistan National Assembly was dissolved.
- Farah Khan has reportedly left for Dubai. It's not clear when the viral picture was taken, but the bag worth $90,000 dollars has been brought to notice, fueling reports of bribes.
- Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Romina Khurshid Alam, has taken to Twitter, expressing outrage stating “Farah Khan, Bushra’s Frontwoman who ran away. The bag with her is for $90,000. Yes, that’s ninety thousand dollars.”
- With further investigations into the matter, her Rs 70-million Porsche has also come into focus of the public eye.
- PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz has stated- “I dare to name Farah, a friend of Bushra Bibi who is involved in receiving millions of rupees in transfers and postings and these are directly connected to Banigala (residence of the prime minister),” calling Farah, “mother of all scandals.”
- Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Pakistan Peoples Party chairman also accused Farah Khan of being involved in corruption.
- Musa Maneka, Imran Khan's stepson has distanced their family from the controversy, stating “Farah Khan has gone to Dubai to seek residence there, Our family has no links with the alleged deals done by Farah Khan.”
Amidst all the controversy, the news of Imran Khan's wedding to Bushra Bibi, reportedly taking place at Farah Khan's house has also surfaced, showcasing a close link between the PM and Farah Khan. Governor Chaudhry Sarwar and Aleem Khan, former friends of Imran Khan, also accused Farah Khan, of receiving millions for transfers and postings done in Punjab through former chief minister Usman Buzdar. Recent reports speculate that, Imran Khan is also likely to leave the country.
