On Friday, Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari revealed that she was nominated as a member of the Bureau of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Standing Committee of United Nations Affairs.

"I am indeed honoured to be nominated as a member of Bureau of IPU Standing Committee of UN Affairs. This comes at a crucial time when the nation is grappling with the coronavirus pandemic," said Diya Kumari.
She also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Lok Sabha speaker, Om Birla, for this opportunity.

Here's what we know about Diya Kumari:
- Diya Kumari is an Indian politician, who was born on 30 January 1971, to the late Maharaja of Jaipur, Sawai Bhawani Singh, and Padmini Devi.
- She completed her education at the Chelsea School of Arts, U.K. and Amity University, Jaipur.
- She then completed her Hon. Doctorate in Philosophy and Graduate in Decorative Arts from London.
- She is currently involved in managing her family heritage, which includes Jaipur's City Palace, which is partly her residence. She also manages the Jaigarh Fort, Amber, two trusts named Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust, Jaipur and the Jaigarh Public Charitable Trust, two schools and three hotels.
- In 2003, Kumari married Narendra Singh, Thikana Kothara of Shivad. They have three children together. However, she filed for divorce in 2018.
- The ex-couple's eldest son, Padmanabh Singh, was appointed as the successor, and head of the royal family, by his grandfather.
- Kumari joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on 10 September 2013. She did so, in the presence of Narendra Modi, the then Chief Minister of Gujrat, president, Rajnath Singh, and Vasundhara Raje, during a rally in Jaipur.
- In the same year, she was elected as the MLA for the Sawai Madhopur constituency.
- Besides politics, Kumari is also known for her philanthropy. She founded the Princess Diya Kumari Foundation, in order to uplift, and empower underprivileged people.
