The Fire and Fury Corps office underwent rigorous training, including ice wall climbing, avalanche and crevasse rescue, endurance training, and survival drills. The team led by Captain Chouhan will be responsible for combat engineering tasks.

The official account of the Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army tweeted about Chauhan's achievement. The tweet read, "Capt Shiva Chauhan of Fire and Fury Sappers became the first woman officer to be operationally deployed in Kumar Post, at the highest battlefield of the world.

On April 12, 2023, Chouhan successfully completed 100 days at Siachen, the world's highest battlefield.

Who Is Captain Shiva Chauhan?

Captain Shiva Chauhan hails from Rajasthan and was part of the Bengal Sappers or the Bengal Engineer Group military unit.

Chauhan lost her father at a very young age and it was her mother who brought her up and took care of her studies. She was a student of mechanical engineering which she pursued at NJR Institute of Technology in Udaipur. With a bachelor's degree in engineering, she joined military training. It was Chauhan's childhood dream to join the armed forces and she joined The Officers Training Academy in Chennai where everyone was impressed by her motivation and skill at the training. She was appointed to the Engineer regiment in May 2021.

Reports say that last year in July, Chauhan led the Sura Soi Cycling Expedition from Siachen War Memorial to Kargil War Memorial as it was held on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, they covered a distance of 508 km. After that Chauhan also led a group of men of the Sura Soi Engineer Regiment at Siachen. With her immense grit and zeal, she was selected to undergo training at the Siachen Battle School.

As the Fire and Fury Corps mentioned, after arduous training at the battle school with tasks like endurance training, ice wall climbing, avalanche and crevasse rescue and survival drills. Shiva Chauhan showed courage and perseverance and another climb on January 2, 2023, along with a team of Sappers are deployed at the highest battlefield of the country. They will be prepared for combat engineering tasks for the next three months, according to the reports.
