First Day

On her first day at work, Sonali had to deal with a complaint of assault on a student by a TTE. She has assured that she will always be there to pay heed to people's grievances.

Sonali was earlier working as the assistant operations manager (general) of Kharagpur division under South Eastern Railway (SER).

"I joined SER in 2003 as an assistant station manager. In 2015, I was promoted to AOM (general). I must have performed well as an AOM or they wouldn't have selected me for this extremely responsible position," Sonali told TOI.

Responsibilities

Her role is to ensure that stations function as centres of excellence for customers with the additional objective of ensuring vigilant and sensitive customer service with superior commercial sense.
