Violence against interfaith couple in Agra was observed where a Muslim man's house was burned down reportedly for being romantically involved with a Hindu woman. The mob demanded the arrest of the man claiming that he kidnapped the woman. The Muslim man has been accused of 'love jihad' while the Hindu woman released a video clarifying that she entered the relationship of her own will, according to reports.
Such cases of violence against interfaith couples is not a new incident and has taken place numerous times over the past years. In a recent incident, a mob in Agra burned down the house of a Muslim man over his relationship with a Hindu woman. As per reports, the mod also shut down the shops around the house on Friday. The angry mob allegedly set two houses on fire after the couple went missing. According to the Police officials, the mob members belonged to Dharam Jagran Samanvay Sangh group who set the house of Sajid Qureshi, a gym owner in Agra's locality of Runakta. They also allegedly burned down the adjoining house belonging to his family, as per reports.

No injuries were reported in the attack. The police post in-charge has been suspended over negligence of the matter. Senior Superintendent of Police, Agra, Sudheer Kumar Singh mentioned, "If found guilty, action will be taken against him as well." The officer also confirmed that both the partners are adults as the woman mentioned in a video which surfaced on the internet. The family of the woman filed a missing person's report when she went missing along with Sajid. They also filed a complaint against him under Section 366 of the Indian Penal Code.
The woman went reportedly missing on Monday but was traced two days later, however, there is no sign of Sajid. Singh mentioned that the woman will be brought to court by the police. This could not be done sooner due to the festival holidays during the week. The father of the woman told the reporters that his 22-year-old daughter was pursuing BA at a college in Mathura.
According to reports, eight people belonging to the mob have been arrested so far for attacking the gym owner's house.
