Mallika Dua, comedian and actor, issued a statement on Monday regarding her father Vinod Dua's health. The veteran journalist is currently in ICU undergoing treatment. Dua requested people to not spread rumours about her father's death and said that she will keep updating everyone on Vinod Dua's health condition.

She wrote, "Request everyone to not spread rumours about my father's demise. He is in the ICU. Fighting still. Whatever be the outcome. Let him have his dignity. Do not believe/spread misinformation, please. I will issue all official news and updates on him. Not Twitter."

Earlier on Monday, the actor-comedian had shared on her Instagram stories that her father is beyond critical in the ICU and that his health has been deteriorating rapidly since April this year. She wrote, " He also is unable to come to terms with losing the light of his life. He has lived an extraordinary life and given us the same. He deserves no pain. He is immensely loved and revered and I request you all to pray that he experiences as little pain as possible."

Vinod Dua was earlier in the admitted to the hospital when he got infected with coronavirus with his wife, Chinna Dua. His wife succumbed to the virus in June this year after fighting a long battle. PTI had reported that the couple were admitted in a Gurgaon hospital during the second wave of COVID-19 in India. Since then, Dua has not been well and has been visiting hospitals quite often.

Mallika Dua who had lost her mother earlier this year had written a heartwarming post which read, "I was born to god and she chose me to be her child. That's how incredibly lucky I am. It aches way too much right now but my brave friends who hold similar grief tell me it gets better. Thank you ma for choosing to be my mother. You are my god. Thank you my ma." She had captioned the post, "Love of my life. My first and greatest love. Thank you for choosing me." She has talked about her father grieving his mother since her death.
