Veteran Actor Vikram Gokhale Passes Away In Pune

Veteran film and television actor Vikram Gokhale passed away in Pune on November 26, as  ANI reported. Vikram Gokhale was admitted to a private hospital in Pune following health issues. Since then the rumours of his demise have been doing the rounds. Vikram Gokhale was 77-years-old.

Vikram Gokhale Passes Away

A few days ago Vikram Gokhale was admitted to the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune, where he was undergoing treatment. After being hospitalised Gokhale was in stable condition. Later, his health started deteriorating, and came into a critical condition. Gokhale's last rites are said to be performed this evening at Vaikunth Crematorium in Pune, before that actor's body will be kept for Antim Darshan at Balgandharv Rangmanch.  

Earlier the PRO of the hospital on Saturday shared an update on his condition. He said that actor's health had "deteriorated." Earlier this week, there were rumours about the veteran's death, which his daughter had refuted. However, the news of his demise came in today afternoon.

Vikram Gokhale was popularly known for his roles in films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Bhool Bhulaiyaa. He also played prominent roles in Parwana, his film debut in 1971. He also featured in Agneepath, and Khuda Gawah, alongside Amitabh Bachchan. Gokhale was also the recipient of the National Award for Best Actor in 2010 for his performance in the Marathi film, Anumati

On the work front in television, he was featured in popular shows like Ghar Aaja Pardesi, Alpviraam, Jaana Na Dil Se Door, Sanjeevni, and Indradhanush

Gokhale's childhood was influenced by Marathi theater and films. He grew up watching his father Chandrakant Gokhale, who was a Marathi theatre and film actor. Already having lineage in regional cinema, Vikram Gokhale went on to become an actor. He made his directorial debut in 2010 with the film titled Aaghaat. Last he was seen in Abhimanyu Dassani and Shilpa Shetty-starrer Nikamma, released in theatres in June this year.

Vikram Gokhale was not just an actor he was also a social activist. His family's charitable foundation provides financial support for disabled soldiers, Children of lepers, and the education of orphan children.
