Vaccine Registration For Those Above 18 To Open From Saturday On CoWin Portal

Citizens eligible for vaccination can register themselves through the Arogya Setu App and the CoWin website.

Vaccine registration for those above 18 to start from April 28: All citizens above the age of 18 who are now eligible for COVID-19 vaccination from May 1, can register for their vaccine shot from Saturday, April 24. Registration for the next round of inoculation for COVID-19 will begin on the CoWin portal.

On April 19, the government of India announced that citizens above the age of 18 will be eligible to receive their COVID-19 vaccine shot during the third phase of the country's mass vaccination drive, which is set to commence from May 1.

According to the latest vaccine rules, all the states and private entities can directly buy vaccines for inoculations in their respective states. The centre, however, will continue the vaccination drive for people over 45 years of age, frontline workers and health workers.

Among the vaccines underuse in India are the Covishield from the Serum Institute of India, Covaxin manufactured by Bharat Biotech, and Russia's Sputnik which will be soon be used for vaccination.

On Wednesday, April 21, the Serum Institute of India (SII) announced that its vaccine Covishield would be sold to private hospitals at Rs. 600 and to states at Rs. 400. The price for the centre will remain the same which is Rs. 150.

Citizens eligible for vaccination can register themselves through the Arogya Setu App and the CoWin website.

Steps to register yourself online for the COVID-19 vaccination:

1. Go to the CoWin website portal and Register yourself, or Sign in.

2. Enter your mobile number to receive the OTP. Verify yourself after entering the digits of the OTP on the site.

3. Enter your details including your name, gender, year of birth and photo ID proof on the Register for Vaccination page and click on register.

4. After you are registered, you can schedule an appointment by clicking on "Schedule" which is next to the name of the person registered.

5. Enter the pin code of your area and hit the search option. Once the centres in your pin code show up, select the date and time for the appointment and click on confirm.

A maximum of four people can be added through one login and all the other appointments can be made similar to the first one.
