In Rudrapur area of Uttarakhan's US Nagar district, a man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl. He was also produced in court on Monday, as per reports.

According to reports, Manoj Joshi, the police in-charge of Rampura police outpost in Rudrapur said that the accused was arrested after a complaint was filed by the minor survivor's mother. She alleged that her eight-year-old daughter was firs kidnapped then raped by the accused. The accused has been identified as Bunty Thakur who belongs to Rampur area in Uttar Pradesh.

Uttarakhand Minor Kidnapped and Raped By Man:

The police official said, "She alleged that when she was out for work, her 8-year-old daughter was playing in the courtyard. Bunty, a dumper driver kidnapped and raped her. He threatened her that he would kill her if she divulged the act committed by him. But the minor revealed her ordeal to her mother."

After daughter revealed the act to her mother, she approached the police on Sunday and lodged a complaint against Thakur. The police have reportedly filed a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Thakur is accused of intentional insult, criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt besides kidnapping and rape. He is also booked under the relevant sections of the Protection of Children Against Sexual Crimes Act.

According to the police official, the accused was sent to jail after being produced in a local court on Monday. The survivor was reportedly sent for medical examination and the investigation of the case has been seen over by a sub-inspector named Rakhi Dhoni.

The National Crime Records Bureau released the data from 2020 according to which 47,221 cases of sexual crimes against children (under POCSO) were reported in India.
