Following the woman's allegations last week, the college reportedly set up a five-member committee to probe the matter. The patient was due to undergo a medical examination with regard to her claims as well. Final reports from the committee reportedly refuted claims of rape.

The deceased's brother had earlier said that, unable to speak, she wrote down her allegations against the staff. "She wrote on a piece of paper she was gangraped by four people inside the operation theatre," Deccan Herald quoted him saying. A police case was registered after the brother's complaint.

Prayagraj Hospital Gangrape Claims Raises Concerns Of Patient Safety

As per reports, the woman was taken to the OT for her intestinal surgery on the night of June 1. She had been admitted to SRN three days prior. Following her discharge from the OT, she was reportedly unable to speak and relayed concerns to her family in writing from her hospital bed.

"It might be a ploy to malign the image of the college," MLN College principal SP Singh said on the case. The committee he set up to probe the case reportedly rejected the woman's allegations citing lack of proof. Singh further stated the accusations could be false since there were female doctors present inside the OT as well.

Alongside a committee set up by the college, reports said Dr Prabhakar Rai, Prayagraj CMO, also constituted a team to look into the case. On his direction, the patient was referred to District Women's Hospital Dufferin for further examination.

Police sources quoted in reports said the family of the patient present in hospital did not shed much light on her allegations when questioned.
