The statement was met with much flak on social media. The Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan responded to the statement made by UP CM and wrote, "If UP turns into Kerala as Yogi Adityanath fears, it will enjoy the best education, health services, social welfare, living standards and have a harmonious society in which people won't be murdered in the name of religion and caste. That's what the people of UP would want". Various members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) also responded with facts about both Kerala and Uttar Pradesh states and highlighted how the former has better governance.
