Weddings in India are a huge celebration that goes on for days. People are excited beyond measure and families and relatives travel long distances to mark their presence. They celebrate in many ways including dancing their hearts out on the dance floor, bursting fire-crackers and throwing money in the air. Another popular way, quite common in North Indian weddings, is celebratory shooting. People take out their guns and revolvers, sometimes registered, sometimes illegal, to fire gunshots in the air.

Though seen as a celebration, these gunshots often end up injuring people and turn the vibes of the wedding sour. Another case of such a wedding shooting was reported from Uttar Pradesh where the bride herself took the gun to shoot rounds in the air. Here's what happened next.

UP Bride Fires Gun At Her Wedding

A video from a wedding in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras reportedly went viral in which a bride can be seen shooting four rounds in the air at her own wedding with her groom next to her on the stage. What she thought to be a celebration turned into a horrible incident as the video reached the authorities and a case was filed against her for breaching the law. Actually, celebratory gunfire was banned in UP back in 2016 after multiple cases of people being injured because of such gunshots were reported. The police are currently searching for the woman who is reportedly on the run to escape punishment and legal charges.

Shooting or any other dangerous activities should be avoided in public gatherings, especially weddings where children are also present. Many incidents of celebratory gunfire have been reported where one of the relatives lost their life on getting shot, turning the wedding into a funeral. There was recently a case where the bride and groom were shooting sparkle guns for a wedding photo shoot when the gun burst in the bride's hands burning her face badly. There are many other ways to celebrate, it is not right to put your or other people's lives in danger just for the sake of your desire.
