The desire to possess the 'perfect' physique by any means cost a woman her life. Demi Agoglia from Manchester, United Kingdom, suffered a series of heart attacks and died only a few days after she underwent a Brazilian butt-lift surgery in Turkey. The 26-year-old was on the way to the clinic in Istanbul for a check-up following the procedure a few days after the surgery when she suffered heart attacks in the taxi. Her partner, Bradley Jones tried to save her with CPR on the way to emergency care but doctors were not able to save her.

Metro reported that the mother of three had her last son only seven months ago. She also allegedly got a dental surgical procedure done a few months ago, which was botched. Despite this, she had allegedly gotten the Istanbul doctor's go-ahead and was told that the surgery was a success.

How Did The Butt Lift Become Fatal?

Agoglia got the Brazilian Butt Lift, a procedure in which fat is transferred from the abdomen, hips, lower back, or thighs to the buttocks. According to The Independent, the procedure can cost £3,500 (Over Rs 3.7 lakhs) in Turkey, but up to £10,000 (Over Rs 10.6 lakhs) in the UK.

The butt lift is said to be one of the most risky procedures but continues to be popularising among many women in the West, who yearn for the latest trends in body typesMetro reported that Agoglia seemed to have suffered heart attacks caused by fat embolism, a condition where particles of fat get into the bloodstream and block blood flow.

According to the Metro report, Agoglia's family and partner tried to persuade Demi not to get the work done, her brother, Carl, said. He reportedly also urged anyone else considering the surgery to not do it. He told the media, "If anyone is thinking of flying to Turkey for an operation I would say don’t do it. Her mum and even her boyfriend didn’t want her to do it. But she had her own mind."

Carl expressed, "She is only 26, she shouldn’t have died. She should never have done it (the butt lift). She has left three young kids. Her two eldest children were away with their dad and came home early and have been told. She also has a seven-month-old baby."

Dr Ahmed Alsayed, a leading plastic surgeon in the United Kingdom, told HullLive about the dangers of the procedure. "Many people fail to do their research and focus too much on money, rather than the quality or safety of the clinic. Clinics in the UK have to adhere to the strictest levels of expertise, safety and cleanliness. You just can't be sure you'll get that from a cheaper option abroad."
