#JusticeFor15YearAarya is trending on Twitter since the morning demanding information about the side effects of COVID-19 among children. The trend #JusticeFor15YearOldAarya became viral a week after 15-year-old Aarya from Ghatkopar, Mumbai died two days after she got jabbed with the COVID-19 vaccine. Her family has claimed that the girl suffered a natural death as she had a cardiac arrest.

The vaccination drive for the age bracket 15-17 years started on January 3, 2022, following which adolescent deaths have been registered in various parts of the country. However, the state health department of Maharashtra has claimed that the adverse event following immunization (AEFI) is much lesser in adolescents (0.004%) than in adults (0.007%).

  1. The 15-year-old was a resident of Ghatkopar, Mumbai. She reportedly died two days after she got her COVID-19 vaccine and her family claims that the death was natural since she suffered a heart attack. Aarya died on January 12, 2022 after she complained of having chest pains, her uncle told Mid-day.
  2. One week after her death, #JusticeFor15YearOldAarya has been trending on social media demanding accountability over the side effects of the COVID-19 among children. People are also demanding informed consent before getting vaccinated. Apart from that, demands for investigation of vaccination deaths and side effects on children have also been made.
  3. Authorities are also backing up the claims made by the family about the natural cause of death of the 15-year-old saying that the death had nothing to do with the vaccine. The BMC issued that legal action will be taken against those who are using the girl’s picture maliciously.
  4. Dismissing the claims made by the family over natural causes of death, the Twitterati is alleging that the authorities are trying to cover up the experimental use of vaccine on children since it is uncommon for people to have suffer from cardiac arrests at such a young age are .
  5. Dr Maya Valecha, MD and social and political activist, also took to Twitter claiming that children do not need to be vaccinated since they are already immune to the virus. In her ">video, she claims that the world experts are also against the use of COVID-19 vaccine on children.
  6. Dr Valecha also asserted that parents must be informed that the children are at no risk from the disease and consent for the vaccine is coerced not voluntary. She also mentioned that the sero surveys claim that 70 per cent children have already contracted the disease and have developed antibodies to build immunity against the virus.
  7. People are demanding the authorities to conduct post-mortems over the dead bodies of people who have died after receiving the vaccine and the studies thus gathered to be made public in order to be well-informed about the side effects of the vaccine.
  8. Two adolescent deaths were also reported in Ujjain and Khargone after more than 24-hours of vaccination. The state’s immunisation officer, Dr Santosh Shukla stated that side effects of the COVID-19 vaccines can occur within 30 minutes to six hours of administration of the vaccine, dismissing the claims of death due to vaccination.
