Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, the Finance Minister announces financial aid for women homemakers in the Tamil Nadu Budget 2023 on Monday. As per the announcement 7000 crores has already been allotted for the scheme, which is being seen as a game changer for the socio-economic life of women in the state.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) had the key poll promise in the year 2021, that a monthly case allowance of Rs 1,000 for all the women homemakers in the state was to be announced this financial year as per the Finance Minister of Tamil Nadu.

TN Budget: Financial Aid For Women Homemakers

Palanivel Thiaga Rajan presented the budget in the assembly and said that it will be for specific "eligible households" which indicates a possible selection process for determining the eligible women heads in the families.

The minister in his budget speech said, that he was really happy to announce that the amount of Rs 1,000 per head will be given to the women heads of some eligible households in the upcoming financial year, this scheme will be beneficial for the women heads of families who got adversely affected due to the steep rise in cooking gas price by the Union government.

He further added that the scheme will be launched by the chief minister himself on 15th September which is the birth anniversary of C N Annadurai the founder of The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the former chief minister. While the budget speech included operational guidelines outlining the eligibility for availing of the benefits provided under this scheme will be evolved as well as released soon. The government is as per the reports taking steps for preparing a detailed database which will be based on necessary economic as well as the social conditions for selecting the eligible women homemakers for this particular scheme.

It's not the first time the government of Tamil Nadu is taking steps towards empowering women in the state, a few days back it celebrated the golden jubilee of 50 years of the state's police wing which was launched by the father of chief minister M K Stalin. Also, a stamp to mark the celebrations of the golden jubilee was launched at the program by the chief minister himself.
