Andhra Pradesh: Online Sex Racket Busted In Tirupati, Four Held

Tirupati Online Sex Racket: An online prostitution racket was busted by the Tirupati police, which was reportedly being run on through the messaging platform Whatsapp. A case has been filed against four accused who were operating the sex racket and collecting money through online banking transactions, according to officials.

On receiving a tip-off, the police force acted on the information and raided a house on Tuesday evening. The police caught hold of four women and two men inside the house, said the Tirupati circle inspector Sivaprasad Reddy.

“During the inquiry, the police found that two women– Swapna and Lakshmi Priya from Bellary of Karnataka– were involved in the racket. Anirudh and Saikiran from Tirupati used to approach women from different places, send their photos to customers, and operate prostitution racket,” Reddy said.

Further, he informed that the accused in the online sex racket case used to bring girls from Vijayawada and Bengaluru and kept them in the house where they were found.

According to ANI, some women have also been rescued from the location.

The circle inspector said that they got credible information that the racket was being operated from the SBI Colony. Later, based on that information, the Tirupati police raided the house and interrogated the four women and two men found there.

“They were approaching customers through WhatsApp and acquaintances. We filed the case against those four persons,” he said.

Last year in October, four men were arrested in Pune for allegedly operating an online sex racket. Reportedly, a team Pune City Police’s Crime Branch received a lead that a website was being used to operate online prostitution. A decoy customer was used to contact the accused through the contact number available on the website and asked for an escort.

The police laid a trap to catch hold of the woman Ramwadi and interrogated her for more information. On the basis of the details obtained, they nabbed a second woman at another spot.

Later, a case was filed against the accused at the Yerwada police station under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.
