The murder of another woman also recently shocked Maharashtra. 28-year-old Carol Misquitta was reportedly killed in cold blood by her on-again, off-again partner who she did not want to break up with. The accused, along with an associate, planned the murder, leading her from Vile Parle to Palghar on the pretext of discussing their relationship.

On the intervening night between January 24 and 25, Misquitta was strangled, stabbed and brutally smashed with a stone at Waghoba ghat by her partner and his friend. Her body was discovered days later on February 3 by a local who noticed a stench from the ghat. The accused were arrested with the help of CCTV footage. More on the case here.
