The law banning abortions potentially bans the option for the woman even before she analyses for herself that she might be pregnant. The order was passed after the inaction of the US Supreme Court and the judicial forces in the country. The abortion providers like the medical facilities and clinics are now asking the Supreme Court to intervene. These providers have said that the ban would prevent almost 85 % of the total abortions of the state.

After the ban, abortion providers like Planned Parenthood have stopped scheduling abortions for women above six weeks of pregnancy. According to reports, at least 12 states had planned for a ban on abortions but they were stopped from going into effect. The ban has come decades after the landmark judgement of the Roe v. Wade decision which legalised abortion across United States of America in 1973.

CNN Supreme Court analyst and University of Texas Law School professor Steve Vladeck said, "What ultimately happens to this law remains to be seen." He further added, "but now through their inaction the justices have let the tightest abortion restriction since Roe v. Wade be enforced for at least some period of time. (sic)"

One of the clinics called Whole Woman's Health said that they were providing abortions two hours before the ban came into effect in Texas. The clinic said, "anti-abortion protestors are outside, shining lights on the parking ...we are under surveillance." The clinic also tweeted, "Our waiting rooms are filled with patients."

The law banning abortions also allows civil suits against any person who assists a pregnant woman of more than six weeks in an abortion. There is no exception for rape or incest, although there is an exemption for "medical emergencies." The law also says that abortion would be banned for the cases wherein the fetal heartbeat is detected which is often before the woman is even aware of the pregnancy.
