Unique weddings in India

It is intriguing to see guests and couples innovating with gifts to make their wedding special. In another story, a teacher couple in Odisha set an example for the country by opting for a dowry-less marriage. Besides that, the groom’s family dismissed all dowry requests. They had just one demand. They wanted  1,500 saplings of fruit-bearing trees as wedding gifts. They distributed two saplings each to every house in the bride’s village to make the wedding memorable.

“The wedding aims at giving a message to the society that is filled in evils like dowry and unnecessary expenses in name of marriage,” said groom's uncle Sudarshan Biswal. The bride's father was delighted at her daughter's decision of marrying a man of principles. “I am happy that my daughter married such a person, who directly denied to take dowry,” said bride’s father Maheswar Paital.

Another unique story is of Odisha couple Bijay Kumar and Shruti Saxena who did away with the idea of inviting any priest to their wedding. They solemnised it by taking their wedding vows based on the Constitution of India.
