On March 3 several properties of actor Taapsee Pannu and director Anurag Kashyap were raided by the income tax department. According to the IT Department, their searches found discrepancy and manipulation of income at various places linked with Pannu, Kashyap and his partners that launched the now-defunct production house Phantom Films. The officials stated that the production house staff were unable to explain the discrepancy of around Rs 300 crore. Officials also alleged finding issues with Rs five crore in cash received by Pannu who finally responded on Twitter with these points. Close to 20 locations in the cities of Mumbai and Pune were reportedly searched by the IT department.

In an exclusive interview with NDTV the actor has now clarified, ""If there is anything wrong it will come out, I can't hide anything. If I have done something wrong, I will serve the punishment." She further added, " There is no way to confirm why I was raided. When IT raids happed, there is no option but to follow procedure."

Talking about Nirmala Sitaraman's tweet,Pannu said that "it was nice of her to say that it's a procedure not to sensationalise it."
