Supriya Sule on Anti-Encroachment drive: The National Congress Party's member engaged in a verbal spat with the Pune Mayor Muralidhar Mohol over the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) anti-encroachment drive on the banks and in the vicinity of Ambil odha (stream). She said that Mohol should resign if he cannot handle the responsibility properly.

Criticising the PMC's way of handling the drive, Sule suggested Mohol resign from his position. Mohol, on the other hand, issued a rebuttal and stated it as a way of diverting the issue.

Sule said on being asked about the allegations followed by the anti-encroachment action that a proper inquiry of the resolution should be done and Mohol should provide proper explanations, failing which, he must resign.

Sule's statement sparked a war of words and as a reply to the criticisms, he said "The statement is a way of diverting attention from the real issue. The real issue is who pressured the administration into undertaking the action."

Mohol added that they handled the responsibility of fighting the COVID-19 war very well and Ajit Pawar also praised their efforts. "Maybe Sule doesn’t agree with him," he retorted.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Mukund Kirdat accused BJP of politicising the issue. He stated that when PMC issued the appeal of vacating of homes, they asked residents to contact the builder for rehabilitation. If the citizens failed to shift within the given time, the PMC would take action against them without any notice.

According to a report, PMC said that it planned the drive much before. The Ambil odha got narrowed and is 'U' shape at the site. It was suggested to make it straight. However, PMC only planned action against 130 homes.

Sule, on the other hand, blamed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for misusing the central agencies for political vendetta after the Enforcement Directorate conducted search operations at the residences of former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh. The operations were conducted over suspicion of money laundering.
