The incident was brought to the attention of the college administration by two female students on November 13. According to authorities, the students discovered two of the restrooms to be locked, and as they waited, they noticed a man peeping from the top of one of the closed restrooms. The accused fled the restroom after the two students banged on the door and demanded he come outside.

The university administration looked at the CCTV footage in response to the complaint and discovered Azad inside the restroom. On November 16, he was called into the office, where he admitted to recording female students as they used the restroom. The accused reportedly told police that he had a folder on his phone with between 1,000 and 1,200 images and videos of female students.

Azad apologised in writing to the college and promised to never do it again after receiving a warning. But on November 18 and 19, he once again followed female students into the restroom to record them on his phone.

The police officials revealed that they have initiated a probe into the incident.
