Sonali Bendre fought Cancer in 2018: On Cancer Survivors Day, actor Sonali Bendre shared how she fought the ailment three years ago.

In an Instagram post, actor Sonali Bendre 'looked back' at how she defeated metastatic cancer in 2018. Sharing a picture from the days when she was battling the disease and another a recent one, she said that she did not let it define her life.

"How time flies...today when I look back, I see strength, I see weakness but most importantly I see the will to not let the C word define how y life will be after it," wrote Bendre in her caption. She further said that one can create the life one chooses to and their journey is what they make of it.

"You create the life you choose. The journey is what you make of it...so remember to take #OneDayAtATime and to #SwitchOnTheSunshine #CancerSurvivorsDay," she said.

Filmmaker Tahira Kashyap, who is herself a cancer survivor commented on her post saying, "You inspire me". Author Shunali Khullar Shroff said, "You Sonali, with all your strength, your courage and all your positivity, are a true hero".

An overseas fan commented, "I am your fan from California USA. When Sridevi passed away and right after I heard about you! I was so worried and praying for you day and night. God bless you with lots of happiness and healthy long life".

On World Cancer Day, Bendre shared a poem on Cancer by the author Ayushi Sridhar in a video and wrote, "Your journey is going to be hard but try to fight it with hope and remember to #SwitchOnTheSunshine and take #OneDayAtATime". In the video, she motivated her followers saying that despite all medical facilities, what is important is to have a positive attitude.

Sonali Bendre was last seen as a judge on the TV show India's Best Dramebaaz. She is an avid reader and runs a virtual book club. Bendre is best known for her movies Hum Saath Saath Hai, Sarfarosh, Diljale, etc.
