Tejasvi Surya, the Member of Parliament from Bengaluru South, got married to classical singer and dancer Sivasri Skandaprasad from Chennai in a traditional ceremony in Bengaluru on March 6. Photos on social media showed various political leaders, including BJP leaders Annamalai, Pratap Simha, Amit Malaviya, BY Vijayendra and Union Minister V Somanna, at the wedding.
The bride and groom sported traditional garments, opulent jewellery, and garlands. Tejasvi Surya wore an off-white panche (dhoti) and shawl, while Sivasri Skandaprasad wore a bright yellow silk saree for one event and a red-and-green nine-yard saree for another event. She was also decked up in classical jewellery like matha patti (hair accessories), kamarband (waistband), bangles, and layers of necklaces.

Sivasri Skandaprasad is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and Carnatic singer. She completed her bachelor's degree in Bioengineering from Sastra University before choosing to pursue a career in the arts. She reportedly earned her classical dance degree from the University of Madras. Skandaprasad has sung many songs in popular films like Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan II. She has over two lakh followers on YouTube.
Skandaprasad's soulful voice even earned the recognition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who praised a bhajan she sang during the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony in January 2024. "This rendition by Sivasri Skandaprasad in Kannada beautifully highlights the spirit of devotion to Prabhu Shri Ram. Such efforts go a long way in preserving our rich cultural heritage. #ShriRamBhajan," PM Modi wrote on X.
MP Tejasvi Surya is a two-time Lok Sabha MP and President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. According to reports, Surya is also a classical singer trained in Carnatic music. He owns an NGO called Arise India, which works in the area of school education. He is also a triathlete and participated in the 2024 Ironman Goa challenge. The 34-year-old became the first Indian public representative to complete the challenge.
