Sheryl Sandberg steps down as the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook parent company Meta after 14 long years. She will however still be a board member of Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp as per reports.

Sheryl Sandberg has been an active and pivotal member of Facebook ever since she first joined the company back in 2008. Sandberg remains one of the most successful, globally recognised businesswomen, known to have been the backbone of Facebook's growth into a multibillion-dollar advertising powerhouse.

Sandberg has played a major role in the workings of this social media giant, that generated almost $120 billion in revenue last year. She authored a book “Lean In” published in 2013 and has served as the highest-profile face of the company next to Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg. She has been the spokesperson for Facebook’s privacy and policy missteps over the years, being answerable, taking up responsibility, making sure that the companies ties are not severed with the audience.

Ms. Sandberg herself confirmed in a post on her facebook profile, stating that she would continue to serve as a member of Meta’s board. She revealed that she informed Meta, on Saturday of her intention to resign. In the post, she also recalled her late husband told her she should take the job if she was planning to stay five years, and she stayed for 14.
