It’s a baby girl for Tennis star Serena Williams and fiance Alexis Ohanian, ANI reports. Reportedly, Serena was in labour and immediately taken to the St Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. And on Friday (Sept 1) she gave birth to a baby girl weighing in at 6 lbs., 13 ounces.
WPBF-25 news producer Chris Shepherd tweeted:
Since then her followers have showered love to the new mom on social media.
Meanwhile, World number one Rafael Nadal took to Twitter and has sent his good wishes too:
Even Beyonce posted a photo of pregnant Williams with the caption ‘Congratulations Serena!’
According to the reports, WPBF-25 news producer Chris Shepherd first said to the media that the mother and baby are “doing well.”
“A baby girl? Well, I hope she doesn’t play tennis,” world number three Garbine Muguruza said during a news conference. Also fellow American Sloane Stephens said, “I am very happy for her. I cannot wait to see the little baby girl on tour because I am sure she will be around.”
World’s highest-paid female athlete was loving every moment of her pregnancy.
After posing nude on the cover of Vanity Fair to celebrate her 5-month baby bump, Williams stated “I intend to keep exercising for as long as possible while pregnant,” the 35-year-old professional tennis star told The Telegraph. “I want my baby to be healthy and for that you need a healthy life,” she added.
Williams got engaged to Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, in December last year. She announced the pregnancy to the world in April this year.
She revealed the news on Snapchat, indicating with the words “20 weeks”.
“I don’t know why. If you would have told me last year in October or November that I would have a baby, not be pregnant but have a baby, I would have thought you were the biggest liar in the world,” Williams told Vanity Fair for the August 2017 issue, speaking about her pregnancy.
And we can’t wait to see the first look of the baby!
