Kamalpreet Kaur Hyperandrogenism Test: Discus Thrower Seema Punia who booked her Olympics berth on June 29, filed a complaint against her fellow player Kamalpreet Kaur, demanding a hyperandrogenism test on her. The AFI confirmed on June 30 that the committee will look into the matter.
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) said that the Grievance Committee will look into the Olympic-bound Seema Punia’s demand for a hyperandrogenism test on fellow discus thrower Kamalpreet Kaur, according to a report.
Punia wrote to the federation on June 30 raising concerns about the recent improvement in Kaur’s performance, hinting towards the probability of Kaur taking hyperandrogenism doses.

AFI president Adille Sumariwalla told PTI, “All complaints are looked into by the Grievance Committee. The Committee will look into it,” when asked about Punia’s letter.
Despite Punia’s demand, the current World Athletics rules on female eligibility regulations are very clear that they do not apply to field events.
Punia is set for the fourth Olympics of her career. She was qualified on June 29 for the same by breaking the event record in the women’s discus throw on the fifth and final day of the 60th National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships.
The 37-year-old player, who holds her best throw at 63.72 m, achieved the qualification mark which was 63.50m and was measured at 63.70m on her fourth attempt at the said event.
Kaur, on the other hand, qualified for the Tokyo Olympics with a then-national record throw of 65.06m during the Federation Cup in March. She qualified the level during the Federation Cup in March and bettered it with a throw of 66.59m during the Indian Grand Prix 4 on June 21.
