Top Ryan School Officials Arrested In 7-Year-Old’s Murder Case

Chhattisgarh Woman Murders Husband

Two top officials of Ryan International School have been arrested for the murder of a seven-year-old boy on the school premises in Gurugram. The acting principal has been detained.

The boy was found in a school washroom on Friday (Sept 8) with his throat slit. A three-member Special Investigative Team is probing the murder. Police arrested the school’s legal head, Franchis Thomas, and HR Head, Jesus Thomas, after an interrogation.

CCTV Cameras Broken

The SIT found that the bus conductors and drivers used the same toilets as the students. The CCTV cameras in the school were also broken. Also, the school had hired staff without conducting background checks and police verification.

All four Ryan International schools in Gurugram have been ordered to remain shut on Monday and Tuesday (Sept 11 and 12).

Security Stepped Up

Security has been stepped up outside the school, after protesting parents vandalised the school. Protesters set fire to a liquor shop in the neighbourhood. The police used lathis to control the mob. The state government has directed the Gurugram police to book the director of Ryan International, Albert Pinto, under the Juvenile Justice Act, Livemint reported.

The Supreme Court will hear the petition of the boy’s father for a CBI probe.

A 42-year-old school bus conductor has been arrested after publicly confessing to killing the boy. The parents, however, think there is more to the murder.

“It is not possible that my son was killed within 10 minutes of entering the school without any motive,” the father told the Hindustan Times.  He says that the boy had probably seen something wrong in the school and was therefore targeted

“The school management is responsible for negligence in providing safety and security to the students,” he said.

“The school could not even ensure basic safety for my son, how will then parents send children to school?” said the boy’s mother.
