Sourav Ganguly's Daughter Sana Has Tested COVID-19 Positive

While Sona is asymptomatic and has been reportedly isolated in the residence, Dona Ganguly tested negative for the Delta variant.

Sana Ganguly tests Covid positive. The 49-year-old former captain of the Indian cricket team and current president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly's daughter tested for COVID-19. On January 5, it was confirmed that she has tested positive for coronavirus. Apart from Sana, a couple of her relatives have also tested positive.

Reportedly, Sana tested positive along with Debashish Ganguly, cousin Shuvrodeep Ganguly and sister-in-law Jasmine Ganguly. While Sona is asymptomatic and has been reportedly isolated in the residence, Dona Ganguly, her mother earlier tested negative for the Delta variant.

Who is Sana Ganguly?

The 20-year-old did her schooling at La Martiniere for Girls and Loreto House School in Kolkata. She also went to Oxford University for higher studies and like her mother Dona, she is also a trained Odissi dancer.

Sourav Ganguly was hospitalised after testing positive for COVID-19 and was released last week after testing negative for Omicron variant but is still positive for Delta Variant. Saurav was kept at the Woodlands Multispeciality hospital on Monday night after his RT-PCR came positive. He reportedly received Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail therapy. He was reportedly full vaccinated.

Earlier in 2021, he was hospitalised for chest pain twice. He has also suffered a heart attack while exercising at his home in Kolkata and underwent right coronary angioplasty.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Bengal has seen a 49 percent spike in just 24 hours. Many organisations, as well as individuals, are suggesting the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee not hold the Ganga Sagar Mela which can turn out to be a super spreader.

Yesterday, West Bengal recorded 9, 073 new COVID-19 cases in a day. The state's tally of fresh fatalities in 16 and has pushed the total to 19,810. Over 100 doctors which include faculty, post-graduate trainees and interns of Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata have tested positive.

The state has already implemented a partial lockdown wherein gyms, salons amongst other places remain close while theatre and restaurants have been directed to function with a 50 percent occupancy cap. The number of attendees at weddings, political and religious events have been limited to 50 while at funerals it is 20.
