Tejal Hasabnis, an Indian cricketer from Maharashtra has come forward to donate blood. She claims that she got inspired by Sachin Tendulkar's appeal to people to come forward and donate blood.

He had urged people who had recovered from COVID-19, to come forward and donate their plasma. That's when Tejal Hasabnis decided to contribute to the nationwide battle against COVID-19.

Tejal Hasabnis who is a young cricketer from Pune spoke to ANI about it. She had recently donated her blood for the cause.  "A few days ago, I read Sachin sir's blog and I saw his post on his birthday that he was requesting everyone to donate blood. So I did donate my blood and then I came to know the situation right now is very tough."

"So then I started creating blood donation and plasma donation awareness through social media. I work for an NGO, and we are now together creating awareness about it. We (Tejal and the NGO) planned to create awareness for people to come forward and donate blood and plasma, as the situation is really worrisome due to COVID," she added.

Hasabnis then added that she is now been associated with many groups associated with social work. Through her social media handles, she also appealed to fellow women cricketers, to donate their blood, plasma, and help out people who are in need of help.

Hasabnis has represented Maharashtra in First-class matches, 22 Limited over matches, and 22 Women's Twenty20. In January 2019, she was named in the India Green team for the 2018-19 Senior Women's Challenger Trophy. Besides that, she has also been one of the coaches for the Pune leg of the Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy camps which was held in 2018.
