PV Sindhu defeated

Indians are still in quest for a debut medal at the ongoing Rio Olympics and the first timer at the pitch, PV Sindhu gave us the hope that she might clinch one. On Sunday PV Sindhu thrilled us on with a convincing win against Canada’s Michelle. She registered 19-21, 21-15, 21-17 in the second group encounter of the Women’s singles event.

Though, Sindhu started off wrong and lost the first set but she fought a solid battle and bounced back superbly. India clearly dominated the match. The twice World Championship bronze medallist shined today as she reached pre-quarters where her teammate Saina Nehwal  let us down. It was so much expected from the London Bronze medalist, but unfortunately she crashed out after suffering an upset straight-game, losing against much lower-ranked Maria Ulitina of Ukraine in her second Group G match on Sunday.

Saina Nehwal lost her second group stage encounter 18-21, 19-21 to World No 61 Ukraine’s Maria Ulitina to crash out of the competition. Massive heartbreak again for India as Sania- Bopanna and Hockey team failed to live up to their expectations. To add to the injury, Saina Nehwal also crashed out.

Tonight, the much awaited Dipa Karmakar’s Produnova final is also scheduled. I am sure, the whole country is gazing at the Tripura and hoping to watch as they say ‘life at risk’ vault. She is up against the three-time world all-round champion Simone Biles who topped the charts now, North Korea's Jong Un Hong followed by Switzerland's Giulia Steingrube. We are with you girl.
